Gary Advocates for Responsible Development promotes economic development in the City of Gary that prioritizes environmental justice, community health, and protection of our neighborhoods and natural resources. GARD engages in a number of activities to achieve its mission.

• Provides Gary residents with accurate and up-to-date environmental information affecting our community

• Monitors proposed new development projects

• Reviews and comments on state and federal environmental rules and permits that affect Gary

• Partners with other organizations to advance sustainable development opportunities

• Takes action to oppose projects and permits that are not protective of community health and the environment
